Hi!

First of all, many thanks for providing this interface for a free go at Arimaa!

While playing a game, I bielieve I witnessed an illegal move from a bot.
Can you please either confirm or tell me what I missed from the rules?

It was game #434913, I am logged in as "beginner" and I play Gold.

http://arimaa.com/arimaa/gameroom/opengamewin.cgi?client=1&gameid=434913&role=v&side=w

My first move was to bring my elephant from d2 to d6. Silver bot moved its elephant from e7 to e4 and then slid its camel from d7 to e7.
How is that possible? I thought I would have frozen that Silver camel.

Is there an illegal move, a special feature of the rule? Or did I plainly misunderstood the "freeze" rule?

Thanks again and regards,
Sébastien.

The program's move is perfectly legal.

The freezing rule is:

A piece is frozen if it's
1.  Next to a stronger enemy piece
2.  Not next to any friendly piece

Here the first condition is met, but the silver camel is 'unfrozen' by the c7 silver cat and d8 silver dog (either one is sufficient on its own).

Bonus input:  Gold can capture a piece for free on the very next move, see if you can find it.

There we are then! Plain failure to understand a simple rule!

Many thanks for taking the time to check and to answer.
I guess I was lucky on the previous games with regard to that freeze rule.

Would it be the Silver cat on C7 that I could have get for free?

Thanks again and best regards.
Sebastien.

Yup, you got it.  Dropping pieces like that is a very common mistake in arimaa.
