I did some rankings last year, and have since developed a system that produces very reasonable results once the number of games gets high enough. That point probably hasn't been reached yet, but here are the Sept. 29 rankings:

1. Alabama 5-0
2. Penn State 5-0
3. Oklahoma 4-0
4. Missouri 4-0
5. Texas 4-0
6. Vanderbilt 4-0
7. Northwestern 5-0
8. South Florida 5-0
9. Ball State 5-0
10. Utah 5-0
11. Kentucky 4-0
12. Texas Tech 4-0
13. Oklahoma State 4-0
14. Connecticut 5-0
15. Brigham Young 4-0
16. Virginia Tech 4-1
17. Georgia 4-1
18. Boise State 3-0
19. LSU 4-0
20. Tulsa 4-0
21. TCU 4-1
22. Wake Forest 3-1
23. Duke 3-1
24. Kansas 3-1
25. Nebraska 3-1

I know the results don't make sense in some cases - for example, Florida at #45 and USC at #47. This is because with the low number of games, the Bradley-Terry component is very sensitive to losses. The pure point component is probably slightly more meaningful at this point:

1. Texas 86.45
2. Penn State 86.42
3. Oklahoma 85.75
4. USC 78.52
5. Missouri 76.52
6. Florida 76.06
7. Alabama 73.69
8. Brigham Young 72.98
9. California 71.91
10. TCU 71.21
