Starting soon?  It looks like the games were already underway when you posted.   Good luck, David!

I didn't know about this tournament, but I'm pleased to hear about it, because I selfishly imagine that it explains David's absence from Arimaa.  After he wins in Japan, he may have time to turn his considerable talents back to improving Bomb.

It looks like Many Faces of Go took 2nd place out of the 18 entrants, for a prize of 200,000 yen.  Congratulations, David!  My currency converter says that's $1719 at today's rates.  I hope you didn't have to fly to Japan to collect it.

Thanks.

I did fly to Japan to participate in the tournament, so I pretty much broke even with the prize money, but I enjoyed the trip and the contest.

Arimaa has been pretty low priority for me last year.  I felt that I only had a chance to win the human-computer competition in the first year, before people figured out strategy.

If Bomb loses the computer-computer competition I'll probably work on it more Smiley

I miss you, so I'm really, really hoping Bomb doesn't win again in 2007...
