I guess the top level chess players have quite a different mind. They are basically hardwired to play chess.
I hope someday we have this kind of talent playing Arimaa. Such a person might be able to reach and maintain a 3000+ WHRE rating.

I don't think he will ever get board of chess. I think chess is way beyond the limits of human mental capacity. Manus will be lucky if he ever hits a rating of 3000. But computers have started to push beyond that. So we know there is still a lot left for humans to learn about chess.
Also I think top chess players have invested so much in chess that they just are not very interested in other games. Unless of course there is huge prize money involved; which is what attracts them to poker.
I think our 3000+ Arimaa player is either already among us or is probably a youngster who hasn't heard of Arimaa yet.
