A friend of mine sent me a link to this article. It was a very interesting read. I thought the Arimaa community might find it interesting.

Fascinating.  I'm astonished that patzers like myself blunder so seldom.  I would have expected my own blunder rate to be much higher, based on my rating.  I wonder what percentage of wins are attributable to gradually outplaying the opponent as opposed to blundering less often and/or less badly.

1% doesn't seem so small when considering the length of a chess game. Given 40 moves for each player, that means around half of all grandmaster games contain a multiple-pawn blunder. That's significantly more common than I would previously have guessed.

I agree, clyring.  I'm surprised on both ends of the curve, i.e. surprised grandmasters blunder so often as much as I am surprised that patzers like me blunder so seldom.  Thus my wondering how much of a typical Elo advantage is attributable to subtly outplaying the opponent as opposed to having a lower blunder rate.

And no one commented on what they named their analysis cluster?  (It's in the URL above)
