When I click on the word chat in the game room I am connected to what seems to be a chat program, but it's dead! No matter what I type, the system won't give me any feedback and when I try to click it a second time, it thinks that I am already connected even though I left an hour before.

Can't anyone help me?

What should I do?

I just tried it and it seemed to work OK for me. I was able to type and see my message. I thought this worked for most people. Did it ever work for you before? But this chat system does not recognize when someone has left.

A possible solution could be to use an IRC channel, which could be accessed in a variety of ways, so if one way doesn't work for someone there would be another.

I have no idea how to apply that  to the use of the Arimaa chat.

It has worked fine, up until this new version, but now it doesn't work at all.

I keep trying to launch it and each time I end up with a dead screen.

What should I do?

Sorry for having misled you, it was documentation for Omar to investigate the possibility of using web gateways and other means to an IRC channel so that everybody can choose the interface that works for them.

I have no idea why the PHP/Javascript chat doesn't work for you. Is Javascript disabled on your brower? Is your computer protected by some special device or software?

I am sure that Javascript isn't the problem because I tried other sites that propose games that use it and they work just fine and it's not either a protection issue because nothing keeps me from using the chat, it is just that once I am there it will just not work, like a program that is stopped.

If Omar doesn't get the issue resolved in time for the World Championships, I think there is still a per-game chat.  I will join the chat room of any tournament game I am watching, and relay comments from folks who can't use the one chat to folks who can't use the other.  Of course, that only helps you when I am awake. :P

Arimanator, I noticed today that LUNO couldn't get into the chat with Internet Explorer, but switched to Firefox and was able to chat.  Firefox may be worth a try for you.

Same here, the gameroom chat doesn't work with IE but works just fine with firefox.

I use IE7, and it works fine.
