Title: Ordering of players in gameroom
Post by Fritzlein on Jan 30th, 2011, 5:10pm
Today, when there were about 30 players logged in, I was thinking that the alphabetical listing was probably not as useful as a listing in order of rating would be.  Alphabetical is good for verifying whether or not another player is on-line, but by rating is good for finding an appropriate opponent, and the latter is a more common task.

Just now I noticed that the players in the game room are listed in order of rating instead of alphabetically.  I am amazed at my power to change reality simply by thinking how I would like things to be.  You may all thank me for making the world a better place, and tremble in fear of my awesome powers.  ;D

(P.S. Thanks, Omar -- great little feature.)

Don't be fooled.  This is evil Slytherin magic.  Why don't you tell them the cost of casting this spell, Fritz?  Well I will.  Each time Fritzlein does this, and this is why he wins so many games, an abstract board game dies.  It just gets wiped from existence.  We're fortunate Christian Freeling is around reinventing some of these games.  You want proof?  Go look at the stacking games thread under Off-Topic Discussion.  There used to be 12 different stacking games there.  Go count them now.  If this isn't stopped soon, we'll be left only with games by Mark Steere.

You can thank Aamir for this feature. He convinced me to do it. It is kind of nice to be able to order the players by rating especially if you are looking for opponents to invite close to your rating.
