Title: Forum login broken?
Post by harvestsnow on Mar 7th, 2015, 7:58am
Someone (CraggyCornmeal) asked in the chatroom how to login or register in the forum. The registration page is supposed to be here (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/forum/cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=;action=register), but I can't access it because it redirects to the gameroom.
The last forum registration was on February 27th. Was something changed since then?

I managed to get in. I just needed to clear my cookies. Thanks for suggesting that, Harvest.

The link harvestsnow gave has never worked to create an account on the forums AFAIK. This (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/gameroom/forumLogin.cgi) is the correct link, and only redirects to the gameroom if you are not logged into the gameroom or if your browser cache is causing problems.
(Alas, the latter is extremely common. Advice: Never ever ever view that page while not logged in to the gameroom.)

I didn't remember how it was done. The fact that the forumLogin.cgi page says "click here to register an account", with the link I mentionned, is a tad misleading. It might be inherited from YaBB, since that link is also present on the (other)  login page (http://arimaa.com/arimaa/forum/cgi/YaBB.cgi?action=login).

It's a little counterintuitive because one expects the forum account to come separately rather than as an offshoot of the gameroom account.
