Replaying these games makes me realize how astonishingly large this handicap is against any competent opponent, never mind the best fixed-performance bot in existence.  It seems you had to make use of every possible weakness of Bomb, including it's unwillingness to advance its camel, reluctance to swarm, reluctance to decentralize its elephant, reluctance to give up a framed rabbit, an occasional ill-judged piece advance, a propensity to put MHH all near the same trap, unwillingness to put its camel next to your elephant even when necessary, and probably lots of other flaws too subtle for me to even notice.

What strikes me most about your victories, apart from their miraculousness, is that unlike some other amazing bot-bashing exploits, this one did not rely on tricking the victim into an unfavorable goal race.  On the contrary you played a control game both times, which should be impossible with a disadvantage in heavy pieces.

I suspect that if Fotland ever gets around to developing on Bomb again, he will find these games more instructive than anything I had to say about Bomb's strategic weaknesses.

Congratulations!

Amazing games. It's going to be hard to top this.

Thanks for this dithyrambic analysis, Karl; it is greatly appreciated.  :)

My modesty authorizes me to agree with you on one point: It took every bit of my knowledge of this bot's reactions to beat it with that handicap... and then some.
