Title: Arimaa Board
Post by PerkofBR on Jan 22nd, 2015, 9:09pm
Hi!

I made a custom Arimaa Board to play with my family and friends, and I would like to show it to the Arimaa community.

So here are the pics!

Nice! Which materials have you used?

Thanks for the feedback!

The board was made with a piece of wood that I already had, a little thin, but ease to work with.
Painted with regular wood ink and with a layer of resin on top.

As for the pieces, I dont know the name of the material, but is the same plastic of dominos and dices, (I got them in a domino/dice/etc factory)
I bought the plastic disks and imprinted the figures with regular paper.

And the elephant box I got in a handmade products shop, it matched perfect with the theme  :)

Thanks for the details, Perk. It must have been fun time creating this set - and it must be equally fun playing with it!

Looks good! Does is make a "clap" when you mash down a piece on the board? That sound when you play a stone you're happy with is at least half of the pleasure of playing go on a go-ban. If you get the best of both worlds with the go-ban sound and the superior awesomeness of arimaa, I'm officially jealous!

Indeed Chessandgo, the clap sound is very satisfying  :)

Great concept! Looks like a fusion between a go and a shogi set ;D
