I'll nominate ocmiente for this award if no one else has been named. It looked like an uphill battle in the 40's, but he played well in a true endgame. I have to give respect to VinceS, too, for pressing so hard against a higher rated player. |
| Would anybody like to second ocmiente's nomination?

I will nominate Heyckie for stepping in at the last minute and playing me when Hippo couldn't make it. He put forth a valiant effort.

I would like to help y'all determine the game of the round, but since I played, I have a conflict of interest!

| By that logic, I guess my nomination, and mistre's nomination, would be null and void, too.

| We are not numerous enough for that to apply Fritz, go ahead and make a nomination.

I agree mostly with The_Jeh. If there was a game of the round, it would be VinceS vs. ocmiente. However, I am inclined to nominate VinceS and give respect to ocmiene for staying focused and winning the game.

This is a new idea and I've already asked a lot of everybody what with the Legislators' Committee and all that. Also this is not an integral part of the League, simply an extra activity to get the community involved. So as the Organizer and as a disinterested party, at least in this League I will be handing out these awards personally. Perhaps I should clarify what Player of the Round represents: It is primarily to recognize players who excel themselves on the board, who also demonstrate good sportsmanship. On each round I will take as candidates those who are nominated and seconded by individuals in the community, and then make an evaluation. I hope this sits well with everybody. I will be deciding on the award for this round soon, so if anyone has an argument for one or the other of the players nominated, please feel free to make it.

After looking at the games I think VinceS put on an outstanding performance, losing only by a whisker. So I am happy to announce VinceS as Player of the Round for Round 1! Would anyone like to make a nomination for the Round 2 games that were played last week? Apart from Player of the Round you can also make nominations for the other categories listed at the beginning of this thread.

I say we give round 3 to ocmiente despite timing out, if only for that cute 33g.

Thanks aaaa. I'll nominate Simon, because he played the better game. 43g is burned into my brain now. Hopefully, I'll not do that again.

That 33g really took me by surprise, I don't recall seeing that pattern before and consider myself lucky to have converted it into a horse trade instead of a loss. I nominate 42s for blunder of the round, and 43g for missed opportunity of the round.
