| It depends on how much you already know about programming. There are great resources out there for bot programming, but only if you are already an experienced coder. If you aren't already experienced, then you might want to consider some other project for learning how to program. I'm afraid that if you try to learn how to program by trying to learn how Arimaa bots work, you might end up learning neither.

You have to learn something like C, C++, Python or Java (to name a few).

Any recommendations for resource(s) to teach myself Java? I did some other stuff a decade ago (Visual Basic, etc) and am considering getting back up to speed in the world of computers.

I have experience in C, C++, Python, and Java and am also wondering how to go about making a bot. I know I could code the arimaa game specifications into a program of my own but that wouldn't be compatible with the online gameroom.

| http://arimaa.janzert.com/aei/ If you know any of those languages reasonably well, it's easy to make a bot which can play in the gameroom using this tool.
