Hi everyone, my english is really lame but ill try to explain the best i can. Theres a bot bugged (i think), i can always win by forcing him to repeat the same move. The name of the bot is bot_Bomb2005P1 by Fotland.I won 3 games straigh at move 7 by doing the same stupid tactic, check my recent games against the bot. Cheers.

you are right, that bot was programmed when the repetition rules weren't in place, so it simply doesn't detect that the move it wants to make isn't allowed

In fact, bot_Bomb2005P1 is not the only bot that you can beat the same way every time. This means you can get your rating as high as you like by very boring means. However, most people think it is too boring to take advantage of a bot's weakness in this way, so they try to win a different way on purpose. If all the different ways of winning get too boring, most people move on to a stronger bot. If all the bots get too boring, most people move on to playing human opponents instead.

Thank you both, now i understand. I heard about Fotland when playing go , he has a bot named manyfaces. About go bots(for those interested in bots) right now there are two new strong bots causing sensation on KGS, zen reached 5d playing blitz on KGS and CrazyStone 4d.ManyFaces is 2d.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Go#Monte-Carlo_methods.They are still far from beat a profesional or a very strong(6d-7d-8d) amateur without handicap but still the improving in strength the last year is amazing. Sorry for the offtopic maybe any arimaa bot developer find that rambling interesting. Any admin feel free to vaporize this thread.

We had a fairly recent discussion on the state of computer go over in this thread. Although it predated the recent appearance of the Zen cluster playing blitz (Zen19D). In any case you might find it interesting. Janzert
