They've become so good that they need to give us humans a handicap every game. That's also the reason they give away pieces so often ... it's just to give us a headstart.

The bot was stoping after a while when waiting for an opponent as gold. Thus if you started the game right away after finishing one where it played silver, you could get it to play gold. Otherwise it would eventually switch to playing silver.
The bug got introduced when I changed the scripts to support bots playing postal games. I think I've fixed it now.
