With Omar's permission, I've created a standalone windows program with the Bomb engine and Omar's graphics.
You can download a free trial version from
http://www.smart-games.com/arimaa.html
Please let me know by e-mail if you have any problems or
suggestions.
The full version gives you complete control over the engine
so you can set its strength to match your own.

Has anyone else tried the full version of David's program. It's like having a local copy to Speedy; it plays just as good and maybe better if you have a faster CPU. The registration code will continue to work with all future upgrades. So it's just a one time registration fee.
I played a couple games with it at a fast speed and lost
both. It seems to be playing pretty strong on my box
which is only a P3 1.1 GHz machine.

David have you made any progress on getting the computer to play both silver and gold?
I think it would be fun to watch bomb play out some of the close games that were won on a timeout.

Bomb is a great opponent - everyone should buy this software.
The only feature I really miss is the ability to set up a position from scratch for analysis and/or play. Sometimes I have a game on-line and I want to see what might have happened if I had made a different move, but to get there I have to replay the whole game up to that point.

Especially in combination with a corrected "bot plays against itself" functionality.
Then we could just let the computer play out some of the most complex endgame situations.
