I'm pretty sure their algorithms are quite different from each other. Even Loc2005 and Loc2006 are somewhat different, although perhaps being cut off at P1 makes them play nearly identically. The current bunching of ratings is probably just a freak chance, given how variable the bot ratings are. I notice that one week ago ArimaaScoreP1 was rated 1271, and now it is rated 1042. ShallowBlue is moving the other way, from a rating of 1180 last week to a rating of 1240 now. Probably a week from now the strange knot of bots at 1250 will have spread out again just from random variation, especially if a few new players start playing through.

Yeah, it´s true, I was surprised to see Shallow Blue rise from the gutter recently!... But right now, there is a sensitive gap between Clueless and Bomb, and the others... About 400 points, what about this? It´s a large step in the ladder! This automatic rating update is a strange thing. I would like to see an alternative rating calculation with a slower update speed... Can I have access to the whole game result database?? It´s an interesting statistics/signal processing problem, to design the filters... I could use this when I become a teacher in the distant future!
