What is the purpose of the Arimaa network?

I followed the link but didn't get what it brings that the Arimaa site doesn't.

Ah... nevermind... I think I found it.
It's a group on LinkedIn, right?
I think the answer might be that having the group on everyone's profile that is in LinkedIn might provide an additional way to get the word out about Arimaa.

Yes, as ocmiente mentioned it helps to let more people know about Arimaa. Also it adds a social networking aspect to the Arimaa site without me having to build and manage that kind of infrastructure directly; like photo uploads; friends list, etc. Many of us are here not just to play Arimaa but also to build life long friendships and connections with others who share a similar interest.
