My Arimaa Board: Metal vs Wood

I sort of went for a nature vs industry look for the board. All in all it was a lot of money (probably about 35 to 40 bucks) But it was a lot of fun to make. I went to walmart for the green foam to line the box, Michael's crafts for the box and wood pieces, and Lowe's hardware for the metal. http://img816.imageshack.us/g/img00034201104091425.jpg/ The board gets a little crowded with all the pieces on it so it's not ideal to play on, maybe next time I'll use a bigger box haha. Peace.

Nice one. Yet the horses look there more powerful than the camel: I'd switch their designs.

Pretty neat. I also thought the horses were camels at first.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing these images with us. I agree with other posters that it is essential to maintain order of strength of pieces by height, but otherwise that set is totally rad. I want one!

I know yeah the horses are kind of tall, but I sort of wanted to go for a look where the horses were lumped in with some of the more powerful pieces, because it took me a while to classify the horse with elephant and the camel rather than with the cats and dogs. Perhaps I did go (a little) overboard here, but it was mostly a hunt for the pieces that would make an equal height on either side. I didn't want to have metal have tiny ponies and wood have towering stallions so it was more of a mix-and-match type deal. Maybe later I'll make some replacement horses that have a more appropriate height. Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I look forward to playing (and probably losing to) some of you soon haha.
