Site Transfer

Wow, that was the worst site transfer ever. I really wasn't expecting this. First, I'm really sorry about messing up the weekend tournament. I had stopped into the gameroom earlier in the week, but didn't see the announcement about the tournament. But I would have messed it up anyways, because I stopped the web server thinking I was on the new host when the window was actually on the old host.

The last few transfers had gone pretty smoothly so I was expecting this one would too. But several things changed this time and caused a lot of headaches. The CentOS operating system changed to version 7 and there were lot of changes in the system configuration that are different from 6.x. The MySQL-Perl interface I had been using was no longer able to install on this OS. So I had to finally switch to using the DBD/DBI interface and rewrite the database interface routines. The apache web server also decided to change the directives used for access control. There were lots of access control files on the site that were broken and had to be fixed.

Anyways I think I got most of the things fixed. Post to this thread if you still see something. I forgot to mention that hopefully we won't be seeing those strange problems with games getting corrupted on this server. The last server was using RAID and sometimes disk writes were taking abnormally long to complete. This server does not have RAID and disk writes seem pretty fast.

Again, really sorry about messing up the tournament. But hopefully the server will be more stable now.

Thanks for the update, Omar. I can only imagine how frustrating this weekend has been for people participating in the tournament or otherwise trying to access the site. But if the upshot is indeed that that the game corruption problems will be gone now, then that's at least something to look forward to.

My PM game with supersamu timed-out during the ~24h the site was down for me. Would it be possible for someone to resume it, since it ended on time out?
Doing so would also fix the WHR, right?

My PM game with harvestsnow timed out during the ~24h this site was down.
I would like to see it resumed so that the game can be finished naturally.

The zombie problem doesn't seem to have stopped. It looks like there are two or three new ones in the gameroom already. I don't know if this is the same bug that causes game corruptions, though. These few just look like games that aren't cleaned up properly when they've completed.
