Hands up everybody who thinks it's funny to suicide your elephant (and camel if possible!) on the last move as you goal, a la my latest victory after a long, depressing dry spell. Cool

My hand is definitely up. However, I often don't have the steps to suicide the elephant, and my camel is usually already dead.

That was a close game. Nice job of keeping up the goal pressure at the end.

It's even funnier when the bot realizes it has lost and suicides it elephant.

That's my hand up.  If I have extra steps, I sometimes like to move the rabbit side-to-side on the goal row.  That's my "end zone dance."

I actually have the opposite preference. I will try to make my last move in a way that leaves me with the best looking position, i.e. if I have two ways to goal and one involves sacrificing a piece, I will select the other one. Also, the only time I will use more steps than necessary to goal, is if I can move a second rabbit also to the goal-line: "yay double goal".  Smiley

I used to try for excesses such as a goal-line dance, multiple goals, goal-plus-sacrifice, etc.  But then I started to wonder whether a human opponent would see that as "rubbing it in", so now I generally try to goal in the simplest way possible.  Of course, when triumphing over silicon beasts, no amount of celebration can be too outrageous.  Smiley

Sure, it's fun in a casual play against bots.

But consider doing it in a serious match where your opponent has just blundered. It's tough enough for some people to lose. To show that you have surplus steps to make moves that (without the goaling) would be very bad, you are intentionally affecting the feelings of opponent, which might result into burst of laugh but also into consideration of your opponent that you don't respect him (e.g. take the game or him too lightly).

Now would you do this in a face-to-face match against person you don't know very well? With four siblings I have lots of experience to be quite nonchalant about winning to get them to play again with me... I don't risk celebrating my winning even against my good friends.

I feel obliged to say that I don't lack sense of humor. It probably would lighten up my feelings if elephant sacrifice  takes me by surprise.

Oh absolutely. Don't kick a man when he's down, that's what I say. I wouldn't do this to my best friend, even if I did know I could get away with it.

I just wondered if anybody here shared my sense of humour Smiley A bit of fun...

I must add that when opponent resignes by sacrifying his pieces Fritz sacrifices his pieces while goaling ... (I have a confirming example Smiley)

One time I remember resigning by pushing an opposing rabbit to goal, because it was forced anyways.

Check it out man! It's a HAT TRICK!!!

Double goal + elimination = EPIC WIN!

Well, not really, especially against GnoBot2005Blitz. Just feels like it after a long dry spell Smiley

guilty. I am also guilty of doing this as a resignation too. if the game is about to end may as well make it a bit more jovial

Nice win Joel. GnoBot2005Blitz is not a trivial bot to beat. You crushed it.
